  • Try these sites: http://www.religioustolerance.org/buddhism.htm http://www.buddhanet.net/
  • The best place to go would be to an actual temple. My wife and I explored Buddhism a while back, and internet resources were OK, but we found the best thing is to find a few local temples, and go. Most have sessions once or twice a week for people in your situation. Find out when these sessions are, just call and ask. I've never heard of them charging for any session, but most will ask for an offering of food for charity.
  • In addition to Eli's two sites, I also like: http://www.buddhism.org/ and http://www.buddhaweb.org/ (this one is very simple and easy to navigate) ***Note: Wikipedia is a great jumping off point for lots of information. A great place to get keywords with which you can further your search, but it is not a reliable source of information for actually learning. Good luck with your search for knowledge!!!!**
  • I have a list of book recommendations: http://tinyurl.com/3by7n7
  • I agree with Nelson. Start with websites, by all means, but there must be a local Buddhist meeting place nearby where people would be only to willing to explain things to you.
  • Erased by user.
  • I agree all of the answers here. Wikipedia is not a place to learn about religion since it is constantly edited by visitors and therefore prone to serious mistakes. Locate a buddhist temple or dharma center near you at http://www.buddhanet.net and learn from an ordained teacher. That is how I found my place and am learning a lot.
