  • It's a sad fact. Many Christians deeply distrust atheists because they think one must believe in God in order to have a sense of morality. Atheists are therefore seen as loose cannons of a sort. Fortunately, there is a huge source of non-theistic moral teaching (stories, fables, laws, cultural traditions, etc.). Plus, we're all genetically predisposed to be generally nice to one another (as a winning survival strategy). Of course, there are exceptions to this, though.
  • That's kinda funny actually...but it is probably like many other of the laws around...like the ones stating that women driving must have a man 50 feet behind them and 50 feet in front waving flags to warn people. :) I doubt it is really enforced. And likely in those states the majority of the state would only vote for a religious leader anyhow so it would be a moot point anyways. People are elected based on what the majority wants. We have some very ignorant leftist democrats that keep getting elected in my state even though the entire east side of the state votes them down. (and they always increase taxes, restrict rights, and generally make things less efficient) But there are more people stuffed into cities on the west side so majority votes her in. That's the way it works, for better or worse.
  • Ah, like the one that says Catholics cannot marry into the UK royal family and cannot become Prime Minsiter, then?
  • just further proof that the Church and State MUST BE separated
