  • No. I've never been fired from a job. Looks good on a resume.
  • Yes, the company just got unionised and started firing all new employees a week before union eligibility and moved other workers to foreman positions to be able to fire them too.
  • yep... for moonlighting. utter bullshit.
  • No, not yet, and I am taking a Sabbatical in a few weeks.
  • I was fired at a company where cheating was the way of doing business and I decided not to play by thier rules and so even though I was a top producer they didn't feel comfortable with me not participating in their way of doing business.
  • When I was 15, I had a job doing telemarketing and was fired after three days. The problem was that when I phoned people and interupted their lives and they said that they weren't interested in a newspaper subscription, I said "Okay, thanks". So... didn't get too many sales. The man who fired me said I was just too nice for this type of work. It was said kindly and I don't feel bad about it at all.
  • Once I bought a pocketknife from a fellow co-worker. He stole it from where we were working. He got fired, I got fired, 6 other people got fired, and 8 of his friends got discharged from the Marines for buying from him. I didn't steal, I was sooo pissed.
  • Not fired, but "permanently laid off due to financial restructuring." Yeah, that was the management's way of getting rid of the highest paid, non-management personnel so the owner could keep his $360,000 Ferrari. No exaggeration. :-/
  • Somehow after 20 years in the business , I have managed to leave each job I had on good terms and (crossing my fingers) have not been fired.
  • Yes, twice.
  • No never
  • I never even licked my bosses' ass just to be able to hold on to a job. I speak my mind. But I've never been fired.
  • Once...when I owned my own business. My employees screwed up royally on a job I sent them on and they tore up my contract with them. I wasn't really being fired but it sure felt like it...one of the worst things that happened to me concerning my jobs.
  • yea it was for the stupidies reason and if i can go back and fix it i would.......funny though but stupid why i got fired and not the other guys who did it with me....
  • I was fired once when I worked at an independantly owned pharmacy after a month when I was 16. The owner told me I didn't work fast enough, that I didn't take initiative and that he didn't see me improving. I found another job and used what I learned at the pharmacy to succeed. I was there for almost a year until I quit to find another job :)
  • I have been fired once. I worked in an all night cafe..one morning after my shift, the boss called me into his office and said he had to "let me go". (He had fired the other girl the morning before) His reason was that I took too long to refill HIS coffee the night before. Shame on me for serving the CUSTOMERS first. Something told me that maybe there was another reason..he had hired his mother-in-law to work in the kitchen, his sister-in-law as a server and the next night his wife was working my shift. They closed down soon after.
  • Recent was not firing... It was "job elimination". LONG time ago... Left a coffee cup on the coffee table in the lobby (was supposed to clean up lobby, but night auditing took all night that night); and telling "innappropriate jokes" to the construction workers (who usually told them to ME) in the bar. Personally, I think it was because I knew how to run the place better than he did, I wouldn't let him TOUCH my drawer without watching, I'd already balanced the business checkbook in two hours when he couldn't in the eight prior, and I had taken him back to his room after he'd passed out in the bar (a number of times.)
  • No not yet ;)
  • No, never have and never will. :-)
  • All of us !!! One of us got fired for working on X-mas day for free !!!! *<<<<<Long story>>>>>>
  • Yes! It was from my last job, 14 years ago.
  • Once or twice in my lifetime.
  • I think anyone over 35 (if they were honest) all have been fired from some type of job. For those that haven't, keep living. When you consider that most states are an "at will" work state, with very little or few laws to protect the worker. The only rights a worker really has is in discrimination rights. Other than than, the employers have full reign on how they can treat you, manage you, or fire you.
  • Yep...twice. Once was totally my fault (I was 22 and did something stupid for a guy!) and the other, the owner's wife came to work for the company and for whatever reason didn't like me (I had worked for the company for 5 years before she came to work there) and, one day I was told they were letting me go due to restructuring the company. Nicely put!
  • nope.. but i'm about to quit..
  • No. I've been asked to return after I left jobs.
  • sort of. they ended my contract early because my manager hated me because i refused to tie my hair up, when i was working with clothes, when other workers with longer hair than me were allowed to have their hair down. Its ok though i was still in school at the time so it just meant i had less money and more study time :P
  • Yes, this past Tuesday, it sucks and at this point its all I can say ;-(
  • Too many times to count, but not in the last 15 years.
  • Once. But I deserved it. I was young, into partying, and was habitually late or taking "sick" days (aka hangovers). I learned my lesson . . .
  • Once or twice or thrice.
  • No, I always like to perform my best at my job at all times.
  • Never. I been layed off once.
  • Yep! First day on the job as a waitress-cum-bartender --- was old enough to serve the wine but naive enough to serve the wrong one (read: EXPENSIVE LIQUOR served instead) ... oops!! Too bad I hadn't served YOU that day, eh? :)
