This can be found in you owners manual, and usually can be found printed on the dipstick as well. Most modern vehicles use 10w30 type se or sf oil. Most name brand oils meet these requirements.

Most cars today use 5W30. Check VW online. And most 2007 cars manufacturers are asking you to use 5W20. And a synthetic is best for all weather. I use 5W30 Amsoil synthetic in my 1997, Pontiac Grand Prix, with now 140,00 miles.
