Why is it I often feel like people are posting question here that are really their homework assignments?

• Thank you so much!! This is one of my pet peeves.....pure lazy. They take the time to ask instead of just pressing a few more keys to figure it out themselves. We didn't have computers to do our homework. We learned by reading.

• No, it ain't and I have seen some kids try to do whole papers off of here. It's one thing to ask for help. It's another to use it to do your whole assignment.
  And we chat because we are friends. It's what makes it fun.

• Do not punish all kids for some kids. Sometimes they do not get fair assignments. Yesterday was my 10 year old sons first day of school, books not given out yet, his homework was to fill in a croosword puzzle about maps with no literature on it. He and I spent several hours on other websites reading and learning about maps. He found 23 out of 26 on his own and needed a little help on three. After three hours searching and reading I was proud of him for sticking with it and thought people here were might be able to help. Sorry for y'alls inconvenience. My Opologies!!!

• Oh, we're not talking about a kid like that. You have every righ to be proud of him for all of his hard work. And what in the hell was she thinking? There's a teacher that needs a reality check. You don't give homework with no way to complete it. That's insane. The kids were talking about are the ones who post every question from thier assignment. And you can tell by the times that they were posted, that they're all on the same subject, and the number. Two or three of the real tricky one's we don't mind, but a whole asignment we do. And I've seen it.

  Some folk have gotten very good at sniffing out homework questions - I generally only comment on the most blatant ones - I do see the difference between help and cheating. I used to teach when I was in college.
  
  If you had prefaced your request for help with a comment similar to this, all this drama and negative point bull-crap would never had occurred. Further, if you'd added the detail: This is for a crossword puzzle - 2 words, 12 letters total (or whatever) you would have had more rigorous support.
  
  I stand by my original comments about refusing to support using answerbag as cheatbag. I hope you can see my point.
  
  (and, you also need to know, in spite of the rigorous downrating I've taken for this thread and the other, I've not downrated your answer here... I am fair about these things, even though many are not.)

• Further, I haven't downrated any of the three questions you posted that were/are homework-suspect... even though they were the three very first things you posted here... a common behavior for kids attempting to cheat.
