  • Yes. What... God can make the universe but not a mechanism that perpetuates the survival of the fittest? As we say in grade school: Uh guh-derr.
  • Why not. Thats as good an explanation out there as any. There's no way to dispute it and there are more ways to prove it.
  • I believe that God created everything so it would only make sense that He created what we call evolution. I know that God has a reason for each and everything that we, as humans use to doubt that He is the One and True God. I also believe that one day we will all know the real truth. I could be wrong in my belief, but one day we will all know who is or isn't wrong. In His service, <:))))<>< "My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge." Psalm 62:7
  • yes I do. Why? Because I *believe* in a supreme Creator..but evolution is a proven fact (if you are confused about the difference between the word meanings of theory in scientific and non-scientific terms read this: http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/evolution-fact.html ) tbh I do not understand why people think belief in a supreme creator/God and evolution are an either/or thing..if you believe that *with God all things are possible* then doesn't evolution fall under *all*?
  • I don't say one way or another because all that matters is that God created and He can do it any which way he wants!
  • Using the word "God" is handy, a good figure of speech, to explain mankind's view of the cosmos. According to Einstein, there is a God that is not playing dice with the universe. No accidents, only controlled direction and purpose. Evolution is God's tool, it is still ongoing, and it is our best view of his handiwork.
  • No - why? Because as some have stated, "Evolution is a proven fact..." This is NOT true. It is still a theory and many scientists have actually rebuked the idea of evolution due to insufficient evidence. Micro-evolution exists however (natural selection). Theistic evolution can not exist because evolution says humans are a part of this process, when the bible CLEARLY states in Genesis 2:7 "God formed Man out of dirt from the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life. The Man came alive — a living soul!" (MSG). This verse alone says (at the very least) humans did NOT evolve. Comments anyone?
  • No, because I do not believe god Exists. I rate theistic Evolution above Creationism, but not by much - at least it doesn't try to ignore mountains of evidence, because it doesn't like the conclusion - but it tries to introduce an unnecessary element to Justify the fact of Evolution, when one believes in god.
  • The evolution part, yes. The theistic aspect, no. I don't believe that God (by most popular definitions of Him, at least) had anything to do with evolution, because I don't believe in God in general. The hypothetical existence of God just doesn't seem useful enough to help explain things, so I don't hold it. Actually, the idea that "God did it" only makes it harder to explain things, since it adds the whole question of where God came from in the first place, while at the same time not helping one bit to guide further investigation about the things themselves. I do have to admit the possibility that God might (just might) exist, but that's no reason to believe He actually does. I mean, I can't go believing things just because they MIGHT be true. I don't treat any other hypothetical entities that way, so why treat God that way? Of course, nobody can absolutely prove or disprove that "God did it", but that is true of absolutely every phenomenon under investigation, not just evolution. You can always say "God did it" about anything, and in every case it won't actually help lead you to finding deeper questions about the phenomenon itself. All it will do is lead you away from investigation of nature and toward investigation of dogma. Therefore it doesn't add any value to one's understanding of how nature works. All it does is add an additional needless hypothesis onto a theory that works perfectly well without that hypothesis. The only reason to add God to it is if you just WANT to believe in God anyway. But that seems quite childish to me. As people mature they should learn that simply wanting something to be true is not adequate justification for their believing it to be true.
  • No- the bible clearly states how the earth was created. Christians now that science behind evolution is too strong to refute so now they claim, god invented it. Christianity is the house built in sand..
  • Theistic evolution has no basis at all,and has no facts to back up their claims.Scientific evolution is based in much thought and study and is reality as we know it.
  • Absolutely not. Such a belief is a direct attack upon the very tennants of faith. For instance, if theistic evolution is true, then death was by necessity in the world before the fall of man. Yet, Romans tells us that by one man sin came into the world, (and the result of sin is death)death passed to everyone, because all have sinned. If there were death already in the world before sin entered, the Bible then has a major contradiction within it's pages, and by such, becomes totally unreliable, and furthermore, it makes the atoning death of Christ unnecessary. The question of allowing for theistic evolution therefore attacks the very heart of the gospel message. The question at heart behind theistic evolution is this...Do I trust the authority of Scripture, or do I trust the theory of man? Further, the Genesis account of creation gramatically does not allow for theistic evolution. The text is clear for a literal 6 day creation. The Hebrew language cannot be misconstrued in this point, the morning and evening were the first day...following suit throughout the creation account.
  • No. Though nothing in evolution makes god impossible, the beauty of the theory is that it shows how it could all work without outside help. And so I think it's unnecessary to include that outside element. After all - if I chose to I wouldn't know whether to ad God, some other gods, magic pixies, the FSM or whatever. +5
  • Science and Evolution is God and its all right in the BEGINNING/GENESIS...there was SPACE=HEAVEN TIME= BEGINNING=FIRST MATTER=MASS=EARTH FORCE=LIGHT & DARKNESS MOTION=CREATION HE IS SCIENCE that has always EVOLVED.... the theory of evolution in the "strictest sense" states that all living organisms have evolved from common ancestors is a gradual historical process of change and diversification.THE THEORY "REJECTS" THE NOTION THAT ALL ORGANISMS WERE "DESIGNED" & "CREATED" AT THE "BEGINNING" OF TIME....... IN THE FIRST PLACE.it is taught to our kids in school through mans explanation of science....man endoctrinates them with this UNSPIRITUAL OPPOSITION ,therefore as SAtan does, they put the idea in their heads...they become indoctrnated,"brainwashed" so to speak with NO PROOF WHAT SO EVER...only theory.... its a parents responsibility to make sure their child understands it not TRUTH ,just THEORY.. GOD DID BRING FORTH EVOLUTION ,WHEN HE CREATED!!!.:)
  • Yes! Science has proven that evolution did occur in order for the Earth to get to where it is today. So if your faith makes you believe that the Earth was created by God, then it must be that he created it using evolution. I am a scientist, and when you learn all about evolution, you realize how amazing it is, and so it's not hard to believe that God had something to do with it.
  • Yes. Further, I believe that man is equally capable of directing evolution in the exact same way. I read the original article about Calerpa taxafolia, an aquatic plant that 'appeared' suddenly while technicians were attempting to create a plant that was beautiful for aquariums but which would not be eaten by tropical fish. It DID NOT PREVIOUSLY EXIST. And nobody was using advanced genetic techniques. Now we just need to 'create' something that WILL eat the stuff!
  • If you are talking about the God depicted in the Bible then no it is not possible. . If the God of the Bible exists and the Bible is his inspired word then obviously a good portion of the OT is just a fabrication. Furthermore Paul who wrote a good portion of the NT (supposedly under the inspiration of God) refers to Adam. . So either the majority of the Bible is a fabrication - in which case the God of the Bible does not exist ... . or . The God of the Bible does exist, the Bible is correct and evolution is false and genesis is true. . But both premises cannot be true.
  • Evolution depends on one type changing to another type...regardless of time... But the Bible says this... (Genesis 1:21) And God proceeded to create the great sea monsters and every living soul that moves about, which the waters swarmed forth according to their kinds, and every winged flying creature according to its kind. And God got to see that [it was] good. ACCORDING TO ITS KIND....So there is no mixing of "kinds". Cats remain cats...big or little... And elephants do not become blue whales...
  • So it won't let me post a comment, so here's an answer that comes after the conversation thread from before. White Dove - I love dictionary.com! Randoley - when talking about evolution, it's important to remember that all living things evolve, not just humans. So yeah, you might look at fossils and what-not and say that it supports human evolution. But the stronger evidence in support of evolutionary theory is actually observing it in controlled lab experiments (which you can't ethically do on humans!). Like if you add a virus that feeds on bacteria, into a flask of bacteria, and then allow mutations to occur (such as by shining UV light on them, which causes problems with the DNA), pretty quickly the population of bacteria evolves to be resistant to the virus. And then after a while, the viruses evolve to be able to infect the new type of bacteria. And so it goes on in cycles, and scientists can observe this and compare the new strains emerging to the old ones. If you want more examples, just let me know!
  • First of all, evolution is not true science since it's only one man's hypothesis. You cannot call it true science unless it's been proven which it has not. For all we know, we could be wrong. Man kind could very easily have been an experiment gone wrong by dinosaurs in which the very thing they invented (genetically engineered) led to their own demise. Just as robots may one day out smart us and hunt us down, the same happened with dinosaurs. That's my "evolutionary theory"; now it's time they teach it in schools as fact.
  • No, because 1) it contradicts the Bible account, and 2) evolution is implausible in what it is supposed to have been able to accomplish. From a single extremely complex cell (a huge problem in itself) to 100 million separate species, with countless billions of outrageously complex subsystems and features. No, not plausible.
  • No, I do not think so. About 99% of the species that have ever lived are now extinct and I would imagine that God would have had a higher success rate than this. Besides, the reason for coming up with the concept of Evolution in the first place was in order to take God out of the picture.
  • No I do not believe that God used evolution to bring forth His creation. The reason that I don't believe it is because Scripture says differently. Evolution takes millions and billions of years. God took six days. Some Gap theorists and others compromise what Scripture clearly teaches and inserts millions of years where they have no business being.
