  • Regional dialect I think. They both mean evening meal as far as I know. I believe they are interchangeable.

  • Supper is generally an evening meal. Dinner is generally the big meal of the day, whether it is eaten at noon or in the evening. It also depends on where you are as it shanges according to local culture. My Grandma served breakfast, dinner and supper. She was a farm wife. My Mom served breakfast, lunch and dinner. We lived in a more urban setting.
