  • I think it's disrespectful. It kind of made me sick.
  • I think they are probably tired of being discriminated against. However, I don't condone any form of disrespect to our flag. There are other ways of expressing yourself.
  • According to the home page of the Montebello Union School Distrct, the people who flew the flag were not MHS students. http://www.montebello.k12.ca.us/ Montebello, CA --- On Tuesday, March 28, 2006, the front page of the Whittier Daily News featured a photograph where the Mexican flag was being flown above an American flag that had been turned upside down. The caption below the photograph read, “Anti-immigration reform protesters put the Mexican flag above the American flag flying upside down at Montebello High School on Monday.” Since then, Montebello Unified School District (MUSD) officials have made every effort to clarify this misleading information in the local and mass media, as well as to members of their school community. Furthermore, the district has been responding to hundreds of calls and e-mails that have been made, as a result of this photograph being circulated on various Internet sites. The Montebello Unified School District, like many other school districts in Southern California, was dealing with controversial issues involving possible legislation related to immigration. On Monday, March 27, 2006 at noontime, a group of students from neighboring school districts marched to Montebello High School (MHS). At that time, MHS was on lockdown and the students remained in their classrooms. The other students, from outside Montebello Unified School District, who were estimated to be 800-1000 strong, gathered outside the MHS campus. For a brief time, the school flag was lowered, replaced with a Mexican flag, and the American flag flown beneath, upside down. The California flag was subsequently stolen. It is important to emphasize that this was not the act of any Montebello High School student nor any student who was enrolled in the Montebello Unified School District" Regardless of who did it, I think it was very, very, disrespectful.
  • it makes me sick that these people come into our country illegally and on top of that they completely disrespect our flag and our nation. something needs to be done to stop this because this is just the beginning. i see things getting really out of hand
  • Angry. How does that help their cause? They ask a country to turn their eyes from illegal behavior and then show outright disrespect. It's not even logical.
  • It ios downright DISRECSPECTFUL and ignorant, thats why this Country is the way it is none of the others here will stand up to these IDIOTS, and do anything about it. The Lawmakers need to get tougher, and start jailing these people for this, I would be in jail if I did that.
  • This is just another example of whats coming for America. Someone needs to sound a wakeup call before its too late.
  • Not good but if I can tolerate the free expression of many ABers blaspheming God and the bible on a daily basis. This too I can tolerate.
  • Honestly, it scares the crap out of me because those men and women are the young and growing generation of this country...so what if it wasn't the acutal Montebello Students that did it...they were still students from ANOTHER school. . #1. The mere fact that they would go over to another school just so their school can dodge the consequenses shows they are cowards. . #2. The blatant disrespect they had shown for this country shows they are completely ignorant of just how good of a life they have here and they have absolutely no idea what sacrafices have been made to keep their life that good. . and #3... the way this protest was carried out and what they did shows that what is being taught in those schools in California isn't exactly what you would call "academic." The methods of teaching at that school should be severely looked over and made reforms to.... . the actions taken that day were Sick!
  • We The People of The United States of America need to ship these sorry MFs back to mexico. No other immigrants demand that we speak their language, openly demonstrate their contempt for our culture. Waving the mexican flag at protest marches at our City Halls because our cities are working to enforce American immigration laws by cracking down on illegal immigrants. LULAC has become an Anti-American orginization to many of us LEGAL IMMIGRANTS. America is a cuntry of immigrants; people whom want to be here for the good life it has to offer. If you don't like living in America, "vete a la chingada."
  • Go live in Mexico then, and reform your own damn country and stop fucking up ours.
  • The Truth: The pictures are true. They were taken at Montebello high school on Monday, March 27, 2006. The students were part of a walkout aimed at influencing Congress, which was debating immigration policy and the potential of cracking down on illegal immigrants in the country. Although the flag-raising took place at Montebello high school, officials of the Montebello Unified School District were quick to point out that the protesters were not students from Montebello high school. Assistent Superintendent Robert Henke said the high school was under a lockdown and all the students were in their classrooms. He said that the 800 to 1000 students were from neighboring school districts such as the El Rancho Unified School District and the Whittier Union High School District. They marched to Montebello high school, lowered the flags, replaced the school flag with a Mexican flag, flew the U.S. flag upside down, and stole the California flag that had been on the pole. Im mexican and this is really embarassing for me, we shouldn't do this kind of stupid acts. not all of us are people like that,
