  • Some think it is vulgar and to others it is used in every sentence. The so called upper class dislike it but it is more acceptable to the rest.
  • It is considered to be the #1 taboo word in society. I'm watching comedy central right now and they only start uncensoring the curse words after 1:00 AM on the weekend. Second is the S or N word and the last one should only be said by certain people. I was shocked that the S word is not bleeped out on the Sopranos on A & E. I think censorship is loosening its hold a little bit on what can and cannot be said with a guideline to be followed.
  • I had to put an up-rating on the question, I didn't think it deserved '-13'! Think of the taboo words: Fuck: Sex Twat: Vagina Cunt: Vagina Bollocks: Testicles Cock: Penis Shit: Faeces All of these words refer to about the most natural of acts: Sex and excretion. Before the Christians got to the British Isles the people here were pagans. Pagans worship mother Earth, nature etc. So they revere sex (because only through sex can you do the greatest act possible, create life) and they thought of faeces as something very useful with farming (manure). When the Christians got here they tried to oust paganism by killing the Druids and demonizing everything that the pagans held sacred. Thus they outlawed words that refered to the things that the pagans revered: The list above. So today they are considered taboo but they shouldn't be!
  • I think it is the actual pronounciation of the word. It is sharp and short and it sounds like it is full of meaning.
  • I find the word fuck being used more and more in general conversation with people in public, both men and women, especially those under 25.Its lost alot of its sex meaning but politically correct people still take offence to it.I would supose if you heard the word and you thought about sex then you would decide if sex fits into the conversation. If it does not then the word takes a different meaning.I had a friend once who would use GD twice in every sentence and think nothing of it but for him the word fuck was a no no.
