right click ms paint and choose create shortcut.

Right click on any blank area of your desktop and select New... Shortcut from the menu that comes up. A dialog box will open - click the Browse button on that dialog box and navigate to MSPAINT.EXE, you'll probably find it in the C:WINDOWSsystem32 folder. Click on mspaint.exe and then click the OK button. Click Next in the original dialog box. Type a name for your shortcut (Paint) and then click Finish.

Another way to create your shortcut is to click the Start button, go to Accessories, highlight the "Paint" icon and right-click it. You then choose "create shortcut" from the drop-down menu. You will see a shorcut appear at the BOTTOM of the drop-down menu (it will be called "Paint (2)"...just right-click it & drag it to the desktop. You will be asked if you want to copy shortcut, movie it, etc. Choose the "Move" option. It will then be on your desktop. If you then want to rename the shortcut, just right-click it & choose rename.
