Someone's life that is lost is a tragedy no matter where it takes place. We are currently in a war and the loss of those lives are terrible, yes, but we understand that those are the consequences. VT was a ridiculous killing spree that happened suddenly and was ALL OVER the news. We don't get a CNN update every time a soldier dies, sad but true.

Very true statement. It is like calling it terrorism when someone else attacks our citizens, but saying nothing when we kill their's, like air bombings.

people pretend to care about all sorts of things. the truth is the majority of them care about numero uno and some close friends. thats about it.

I don't believe that. I think people who feel for the families of dead Americans feel just as strongly for the soldiers who die in combat as they do when tragedy befalls people right here at home. The only difference is that something like what happened at VT could happen to anyone; what happens to the people in Iraq can only happen to people who are in Iraq. <edit>I just realized it was you how posted this question. It's a good one. How do you like my new name?
