Smallest Room?

They may think toilet is a indecent word." We can't say 'I went to Toilet'infront of others.
-
Could just be a more genteel way of describing the Throne-room (- another example of a synonym).
-
It usually does have a sink so you could and should wash up in it. It is more polite to others to refer to it as a bathroom instead of a toilet. Note: Restroom doesn't quite fit either because I seldom "rest" in there.

I feel your grief. You might want to hit them with a stick when they do that, I am sure they'd stop :)

Forcive habit?

Another common one is washroom? often you wash after releasing your bodily fluids, and definitly more politly.. And perhaps since there is commonly a bath or sink. I dont know if i have ever since a toilet without a sink nearby, unless it is homedepot. And the sinks are still the next aisle over.

Over here in the UK we don't say bathroom, washroom or restroom. We just say toilet. No one gets offended when it's said.

I call a toilet a toilet. If it's in a bathroom, I call the room the bathroom, if it's in a room without a bath in it, I call it a restroom.
