  • I used to do this and the mail carrier did put a stamp on my mail and send it on. After a few times they just left a paper for me to order some. It could not hurt to try.
  • If you have a good mailman he will. But if he's like mine he'll leave the letter and take the change.
  • I HAVE INDEED DONE THIS AND IT WAS MAILED SAFELY
  • Tape the money onto the actual letter. That has been known to work in the UK.
  • Please don't tape the money to the letter, that will only aggravate the carrier. I don't know what kind of route you are one, but if you are on a rural route (your carrier drives their own vehicle and doesn't wear a uniform) then they are required to sell you stamps if needed and probably carry stamps with them. If you live on a city route (your carrier drives a postal vehicle and wears a uniform) they are not required to do this, but most will. I would suggest leaving a note with the money and envelope explaining how you are unable to get out to mail your letter and most carriers will be sympathetic to your cause. Put the money on top of the envelope, not under it so they will notice it, and be sure to put the envelope and money near the door and not far back in the back of the box.
  • It works with my mailman.
  • Yes, it's true... I have done it. Just set your coins on the letter in the front of the mailbox, near the door.
  • I have never heard of anything like this. Postal carriers are not post office window clerks. I think this would be above and beyond the call of duty. Ask a neighbor to sell you stamp.
  • Why don't you just go ask a neighbor? Use theirs and then give them the money for it.
  • Borrow from a neighbor. The post office will not put the stamp on a letter for you even if you leave the money. Now, if you have a good letter carrier and are friendly with him/her they may mail it for you if you leave the letter and the money. No tape please. My carrier would do it because I have actually done a favor or two for him. :):)
