Your refrigerator has 2 control knobs. One for the temperature and one that diverts the freezer air to the refrigerator. Therefore if the freezer is too cold some of that excess cold air can be diverted back to the fridge. The knob on my Whirlpool fridge is lettered A-E with letter A allowing the most amount of cold air into the fridge.

There is something wrong with it - get someone to look at it or replace with a new model.

Jack Scotty is right. I had that problem with my refrigerator, and the repair man explained to me that while I had thought that I had my refrigerator on the coldest setting, I had actually blocked the cold air from entering the refrigerator by turning the knob to its maximum setting.
