i trained my cat to sit. they arent as stubborn as you might think. i train her like i would a dog. i would rub her nose in it and hold her tail gently but firmly and give her one pop on the butt. then show her the litter box and if you are ever around when she does use it give her a treat. the biggest thing is to give a negative reaction of some sort. dont pick the cat up or pet or feed it. she will learn that pooping where she isnt supposed to gets her rewarded. i never had a problem with the litterbox but my cat clawed my couch and i used that method but replaced the litterbox with a scratching post and she learned within a week or two. its just you have to keep up with it. training an animal can never be a lazy thing

Perhaps don't rub your poor kittens nose in it's own poo and wee. This will only cause the animal distress and to become fearful of you. The most well-known, kinder and more effective method is to guide the kitten to the litter tray after meals and when she awakes from naps, gently placing her in the tray and scratching her paw in the litter to evoke the natural instinct of scratching in the dirt before toileting. Please please don't rub her head in her own poo, how will she connect that reaction to her own behaviour! She will respond much better to praise when she has used the tray than to punishment when she has not. Good luck!

8 weeks is young and she doesn't have another cat around to teach her......so, as silly as it sounds....when the litter is clean (which they like anyway) take you fingers and scratch, make some scratchy noises, play in it like sand, show her how "cool" it is, then put her it in it. Cats hate alumnum foil, so put that wherever she's been going....put her in the box often, till she gets it...make sure its not too big and she can get in and out by herself....clean the litter often...I never liked cleaning it or that clumping stuff....I just got Fresh Step...which is the best (and most expensive) of the old fashioned type litters...it works well...and I wouldn't clean it, I just dumped it once a week.....you'll need to clean it while she's little though. You may need to put her in a small space lke a bathroom with just her and the littler box......a big house can be overwhelming. Good luck, she'll get it.
