yotta- (symbol Y) is a SI prefix in the SI (system of units) denoting 1024 or 1 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000.

Adopted in 1991, it comes from the Greek ὀκτώ (októ), meaning eight, because it is equal to 10008.

As of 2006, yotta- is the largest and last SI prefix to be confirmed.

There are roughly 6.022x1023 atoms, or 0.6 yottaatoms, (1 mole) in 12 grams of the substance carbon-12.
