Is it just me, or do you ever wonder where somebody got the idea to drink a liquid coming from another animal - milk? it seems quite odd to me.

Not that I think it's "just you"...but I would imagine way back when those people that were around then just thought what is good for those little animals might just be good for humans to drink as well....not really a long stretch for me to think that at all!

Considering that we are mammals, and therefore the natural food for our young is fluid secreted from the mothers breast, I do not find it odd at all that our ancestors would figure out that similar secretions from animals would also be nourishing. Especially when you consider that the mortality rate for women bearing children was much higher in the relatively recent past, and that the survival of the child would often depend on finding a substitute form of nourishment for the child or it would then also die.
