Yes, potentially. The discharge of a debt through bankruptcy prevents the person to whom that debt was owed from continuing to try to collect on the debt. A prosecutor can still file charges for criminal conduct based upon alleged wrongdoing (such as fraud, embezzlement or theft) that gave rise to the debt in the first place.
