I was 47 with at the time of first prescription for Glasses. Lasik is not an option for me as mine is do to the natural weakening of the muscles in my eye do to aging. :-(
-
I was 14 when I first got glasses and contacts. I will have the surgery as soon as I can afford it. Both of my brothers have had it with good results.
-
I was 14 when I first had glasses prescribed. I have considered lasik and am waiting for either the price to reduce or for my insurance to decide to cover the procedure! Also, I'm not sure I want it - I may still need glasses for reading if I get the surgery, so what's the point?
-
I started wearing glasses when I was 12 (I am now 22). I have thought about laser treatment but since the technology is new I am going to wait a decade or so until all the people who have just gone right ahead start reporting any possible side effects. I would love to get laser surgary, however I think its important to wait. My eyes are too important to take risks with.
-
I was 9 years old when I got my glasses. I could never wear conacts my eyes are too ticklish. Lasik was so worth it! I had it done 3 years ago.
-
I was in 3rd grade. I don't know how old that makes me, lol. I have not considered Lasik and I don't think I will. I don't mind putting contacts in and my glasses are actually really cute.
-
I was 9 when I first had to start wearing glasses. I shouldn't say I never will, but I very much doubt I'll ever have any sort of laser surgery on my eyes, unless it was to correct something more serious. Wearing glasses just isn't a big enough deal for me to voluntarily have eye surgery.
-
The only problem i have with regular eyeglasses is the prescription becomes stronger each year. I wore glasses, starting at age 14. i disliked glasses, but laser surgery was not available, at that age. Now, that i am 63, i have had the laser surgery and my eyesight is 20/20. i am going to have a party. a burning party where all my old glasses are invited to be the main attraction.

I started wearing glasses when I was 11. But if I did have a chance to do a surgery, I wouldn't take because I think I look better with my glasses on because you can clearly see that one eye's bigger thaan the other with them off. besides my left eye is really bad and my right eye is near good so wearing contacts would feel uncomfortable
-
1st grade. I am not a candidate for surgery because of the combination of my vision never stabilizing and the degree of near-sightedness (3200 in one eye and 2800 in the other) and astigmitism (2 dop)
-
i was probably like 6 iwas in kindergarten and i hated them. they were really really big.
-
I was 13 when I first got glasses, 15 when I got contacts...developed astigmatism and stopped wearing contacts, and now i'm back to glasses. sometimes. my eyes aren't really bad enough to consider laser surgery, and I hope that they never will be!

I started wearing glasses at about 12, but needed them for a long time prior. I wore contacts off and on after the age of 18. About 8 years ago, I simply could not longer comfortably wear contacts, so I was back to glasses. In January 2007 I had Lasik surgery. Because I'm over 40 I had what they call monovision surgery as I wore bifocals. One eye was corrected for distance and one eye was corrected to up close. My up close vision is perfect so I no longer need reading glasses. My distance vision is 20/30. As the right eye healed I now have astigmatism in it. I need to wait a bit longer to see if it will change. However, I will most likely have to have that eye redone. They can correct my astigmatism. The cost is not cheap, but if you have a flexible spending plan with your work you can pay for it that way and you hardly feel the financial pain. I did a lot of research on this and feel very comfortable that this was a good option for me.

I was 8 years old when I had to get eyeglasses. I first wore contact lenses when I was 21. I don't trust Lasik, afraid something will go wrong, or in ten years I'll be blind;-)
-
I was a young age when i started to wear glasses i have bad astigmatism in both eyes, i have recently started wearing contact lenses as ive finally found a brand suitable for my eye sight. I hav concidered having Laser treatment but unfortunatlty my corneas are TOO THIN plus the high level of astigmatism im not a suitable canditate to have laser surgery.

I was 30 when I first went for an eye test (but should probably have gone much sooner). I had known for a long time that I was very shortsighted in one eye but thought (mistakenly) that my sight was pretty good with just one good eye. I'm not interested in contact lenses (the thought of putting a foreign body into my eye makes me feel quite squeamish) and would not contemplate surgery because of the possible consequences of something going wrong. I like my glasses now because I think I look more attractive with them on.
-
I was 16 when I started wearing glasses and 19 when I got contacts. I would never consider Lasik-Laser type surgery. Just isn't worth the risk to me.
-
I was nine when I started wearing them. I was forty one when I got lasik done- I wish to god I had not waited so long....
-
18 months old...I would not be a good candidate for this surgery my eye sight is to poor.
-
30 years old, I have no insurance so it's not an option
-
I started wearing glasses when I was 5 years old, sixty years ago. My eyes are extremely near-sighted, and also contain an astigmatism, so I am not a candidate for Lasik-Laser surgery. Even if I was, it is way too expensive and dangerous for me to try. I've read there is no guarantee it even works for everyone.

I guess I was 12 or 13, maybe 14, somewhere in there. I wore glasses for near sightedness. In general, I didn't like how the glasses looked, so I would only wear them when I had to to see the board in class. When I was 15 I got contact lenses, and wore them for a few years. I don't wear them too often anymore. I just have the glasses for driving or for seeing things from far away, like if I'm in class.
-
I probably needed to wear glasses when i was 7 yrs old, but i chose not to due to bullying. I eventually started to wear them in some lessons from the age of 13 or so, but at 18 took courage to wear them fully...I don't wear contact lenses at all and i doubt i would consider laser treatment. Its the worry of whether it'll work or not. Percentage rate for success is high and although i know of people whom have had it done (my sis included), everybody is different hence the worry.

I think I was around 9 when I first got glasses. I had to wait until I was 15 to wear contact and have had them ever since. I will definitely get Lasik some day in the near future!
-
I got my first pair of glasses on my 12th birthday. (Not for a present, it was just a coincidence). I "graduated" to contacts at 18. At the age of 44 I underwent PRK laser correction surgery (My corneas were too thin for Lasik). I love not having to wear glasses or contacts anymore.
-
I started to wear glasses when I was in grade 4. Then there were soft contacts, hard contacts, thinking of laser surgery... I had enough brain to do thorough investigation on LASIK and am extremely happy that I chickend out of this procedure. It led me to research in this area which ended up with my own system http://www.snezha.com So, now I am 35, I do not need glasses anymore, my eyes cleared out in color and look more beautiful than ever! By the way, if you want to investigate on issues after laser surgery, go to http://www.lifeafterlasik.com/

I got my first pair at 12, but I refuse to wear them. I finally caved in at 19, and now I wear them happily full time.
-
I was 7 when I got my first pair of glasses and 18 when I started wearing contacts. I'm 21 now and yes I would love Lasik if they could do it for my poor eyesight.
-
I was 12 when I got my first pair, but I never wore them.
