  • The difference is labelling and content. A hotdog, frank or wiener and also bologna are semi-solid sausages but made from one or more kinds of raw or cooked meats, usually not containing more than 30% fat. They do contain a lot of water used in the mixing. They are often labelled as may contain "By-products " " Mechanically Separated or "Variety meats". If sausage is prepared with a specific meat from a single species it must be labelled as such. If not then the generic terms of hotdogs, franks, wieners and so on are used. So when you eat a hotdog you could be eating bone, skin, fat and meats from many species. Doesn't sound very appetising. :)
  • they each have a different amount of fat in them.
  • wiener!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
  • About 2"
  • a hotdog is bigger outta the 3... a frank or frankfurt is small and like half the size of a hotdog and a weiner is the same but the american slang for frankfurt... ummm...i like food xo
  • A hot dog is a disgustingly unhealthy American snack, Franks are modern Gallic people inhabiting the region that today roughly comprises France and Belgium, and 'wiener' is slang for penis.
  • there isn't any. it's like saying "pop" or "soda."
  • The part of the country you are in when you order one.
  • They could all mean the same thing but roughly it has to do with the type of meat that they are made from. Franks are typically beef. Hot dogs may be pork and wieners are usually a combo of both. But then there are turkey franks and chicken hot dogs and well, I get lost somewhere around here:-)
  • The amount of letters you use to say the same thing.
  • Well, I am not a Hot Dog nor a Weiner.
  • A hot dog is what any long, thin, mildly seasoned sausage has become known as in American lexicon. A frank, short for frankfurter, is a sausage indigenous to Franfurt, Germany. It is mildly seasoned pork. A kosher frank is mildly seasoned beef. A wiener is from Vienna, Austria, pronounced Vien over there. Their indigenous sausage is midly seasoned beef and pork. A Chicago dog is Vienna Beef, on a poppy seed bun with Plochman's yellow mustard, atomic green relish, a dill pickle spear, sport peppers, a tomato slice and celery salt. A New York dog is a Nathan's or Hebrew National all beef dog on a steamed bun with anything you want on top of it, including sauerkraut, mustard, onions and relish.

  • A WIENER IS GERMAN MADE SAUSAGE AND SO IS A FRANKFRUTER I THINK AND A HOT DOG IS MADE IN AMERICA, BUT IF YOU KNEW AND SAW WHAT AND HOW IT WAS MADE, NO ONE WOULD EVER EAT A HOT DOG AGAIN. THIS IS A FACT.
  • Looks like they are all the same animal with different names...I work at a hot dog manufacturer and the only difference I've been able to find is that Frankfurters seem to be a larger version of weiners. Hot dog is normally the term applied when the "frank" has been heated/cooked. Weiner & Hot dog appear to mean the same thing. BTW - Our hot dogs are not made with bones and other nasty things. Meat only, thank you!
