Help answer this question below.

Is hollywood becoming so lame that they are making so many re-makes of good movies? IE Footloose,Hairspry,Ture grit .

    "Lame" is hitting the nail on the head. I just read there are remakes of Fright Night and Conan the Barbarian already. Maybe if they stop concentrating on unrealistic violence and swearing they'll come up with they're own good story.

    it's not an issue of cool/lame
    it's safe vs. risk, they want to catch lightning in a bottle again with remakes of old hit rather then take risks with new, untried ideas

    Well, actually remaking movies has been a major theme since the 30's. Hollywood is usually either remaking a movie, or making a movie from a book. It's not new, but I agree it's lame. I think my biggest problem is that they remake movies that were not very good in the first place.

    It also bugs me that they will produce 4 movies in a year with the same basic plot. Oh no, a comet is coming at earth? Oh no, aliens are invading. The same plot over and over again.

    Yes, Hollywood is lame. They haven't made a decent movie for years and years.

    Becoming lame? I think Hollywood has been lame for some time now. The reason they keep redoing all these movies again is because they have all run out of ideas. No more originality anymore. It's the same movie produced over and over again, regurgitated back out with different story lines and different actors. Same formulaic crap.
