  • No. My social studies teacher from high school told us that every person has the right to knock on another person's door. Obviously if there is a no trespassing sign, don't trespass. It doesn't take an Einstein to understand that. If you are asked to leave, then you should politely leave as not to cause trouble. If the home owner has a restraining order on you then I suggest that you don't knock at all. The same goes if they have a locked gate with huge gaurd dogs too. This is in Australia by the way, not sure about about the US laws. And if you're a religious door knocker, don't knock on my door.
  • if there is a sighn to not tresspass. you cannot enter the property to knock the door. and you must have a good reason to enter the property. and it wouldn't matter on gaurd dogs. they just protect from theives. and such. well now you know the answer to the question. and i love answer bag!
  • It can be considered trespassing if you have been informed that you and/or anyone else is not permitted to be on your property. It can also be considered trespassing if you knock on the front door without a specific purpose or reason for approaching the property. For example- if you knock on the door and then run away.
  • no not really unless you have a restraining order...
  • City bylaws often prohibit sales people and/or preachers from knocking on doors if they don’t have the required permits to do so. Every country has different laws regarding this issue. Religious door-to-door people are a higher form of spam. There are laws for phone spam so why not door spam? Best thing to do is put a sign up on your door that says NO soliciting. Of course they may tell you that they’re unable to read. In that case a polite "no thanks" should do the trick. Religious door to door groups keep records so that’s something to keep in mind. They might return if you don’t respond. The UK has proposed a new law that will make it illegal to knock on doors for the purpose of selling products and reading material. After all there are only so many vacuum cleaners one can use and pamphlets of glory can be given in public places not at the door. If you let the would be seller in, do offer them some Chianti!
  • I believe in Australia, anyone can go to your front door and knock, provided there is no court orders banning you from the people or place. If a dog makes a meal out of your leg, you would be entitaled to sue. Let's just say, a cop has to serve a warrant, and opening the gate, a dog goes for him! Next if the boy scout get's the same reaction, sue. I believe, that your front door must be accessable, to all. Being a courier driver, I will not enter any place that has a dog in the yard and I believe, that the house owner, is acting against the law.
