  • Even though the definition varies depending on where you go, generally parking is when you leave your vehicle unattended for any period of time while standing is when "park" however the vehicle is attended by someone who can immediately move it if the need arises. Most times standing is defined as picking up or dropping off a passenger, stopping your car to wait for someone, (like if they have to go into the bank or ATM) or any other form of parking where you are with your vehicle. Unless your car is suffering from a mechanical breakdown, if you stop your vehicle in the "NO STANDING" zone, the officer will issue you a violation. In an area where parking is not permitted, however, the law will allow you to occupy the space with your vehicle provided that the vehicle is attended at all times by a driver who can immediately move the vehicle if the need arises. For instance a supermarket or a furniture store will often have a "NO PARKING" sign displayed in front of the building so that customers can access the space long enough to load their merchandise and then be on their way. On a city street where parking is not permitted depeding on the mood of the enforcement officer or the circumstances of the situation (like loading or unloading a truck), the officer will probably give you the opportunity to move your vehicle before issuing a ticket.
  • No parking means leaving your vehicle unattended. no standing means having a person, inside the vehicle, that is able to move the vehicle, if necessary.
  • The defintion is simple: no parking, means you cannot leave your vehicle unattended in an area designated with a sign that states "no parking". No standing, means sitting in your automobile and in a parked positiion. like, waiting in a fire lane for your wife to run into the store to buy a gallon of milk.
  • Parking is when you turn off the engine and leave the car. Standing is when you remain in the car in a no parking space with the engine turned off. Stopped is when you remain in the car in a no parking zone with the engine running. Anyway, this is the way it was explained to me. AFTER I PAID THE TICKET.
  • Simple answer: No Parking means the vehicle cannot be left unattended in an area marked No Parking. No Standing means the vehicle can be allowed to park in an area marked No Standing, as long as a person is inside the vehicle, in case it has to be moved in an emergency.
  • at least, the definition in the "driver's licence handbook" is the same. and it is stated you may not stop except to load or unload people. nothing about to stop with or without a person inside, it doesn't matter either the engine is turned off or not, as well as you leave you car unattended or not. since it is stated in the book the same definition for both signs it means that they are the same bullshit in different plates. absolutely nonsense. DE FACTO, i can find a logic in the statements mentioned above, but DE JURE what we have in the book i cannot explain nothing.
  • No parking means don't park there. No standing means don't stand there. Got it?
