It is remotely possible, but it is far more likely that it is simply a result of nutrition -- not least, the amount of nutrition your mother got while you were a developing fetus, as opposed to how much your mother's mother got when your mother was a developing fetus, because this has been demonstrated to have a relatively big effect on the child's ultimate height. Also, the amount of protein in your diet as a very young child has an effect on adult height as well.

There could also be an element of random genetic difference in the inherited genes for height... But your folks would have to have 100 children all raised in the same environment and the same diet to disentangle the variables ; )

There is a very good chance. If you are taller than BOTH parents, it is either better nutrition or the growth hormones, pesticides, and genetically modified foods so common in today's food. However, if ONE parent was very tall and spindly, WATCH OUT! There are genetic diseases like Marfans syndrome that pass from one generation to the next. To have this, it is necessary for one or both parents to have passed it down. Other genetic disorders are recessive and may skip both parents, but can get both you and your brother. There is also an outside chance of a pituitary problem called gigantism. However, if your brother is also taller than either of your parents, diet is the most likely factor.

yes i personally have first hand experience as I am 16 year old male in high school. I am taller than both of my parents. Be it a result of good diet and nutrition or the inherited genes from my grandparents i do not know...I know that being taller than my parents has made my life easier than if i were short because people seem to respectme more or at least they listen to what I have to say....consider yourself lucky and cherish the fact that you have beaten your parents in terms of size and use it to your advantage such as in your future endeavors or whatever career you pursue....
