    The word "kill" refers to water. When early settlers named their villages with "kill" in the name, it meant there was a stream capable of producing enough water for milling. E.g., Cobleskill, Peekskill, Catskill, all villages in the area around the Hudson River and Catskill Mountain regions of New York.

    They are allowed to kill them, if they have a permit, like a hunting permit but different and only on the 2nd Tuesday of each week.
