How can you tell if your partner is doing this to you?
I read about this sort of thing happening in a book that I am reading right now. It does not apply to any situations I am currently going through, so you don't need to worry about me.
It is very common for insecure and controlling type people to do that. Love and control are not even in the same family. A man who wants to dictate how you dress will also want to tell you how to think, feel, and see before long. Men who want to control “their” women do so because they are rarely capable of feeling in control of anything else. A healthy man will leave your clothing choices up to you unless you specifically elicit his opinion.

i imagine its about as common as domestic violence maybe a little more.
This is actually really common with insecure men and women alike.
It can be in all different forms including emotional and physical.
Like keep telling a person that that they look slutty or ridiculous in an outfit that accents their looks very well just to get them to wear clothes that don't flatter them at all.
It can be done with food to change their physical appearance and with abuse (both physical and mental) to change their emotional appearance

I wouldn't want my man to do that... I personally wanna look hot, and want him to look hot so everyone else can see what they're missing;D
And as far as forcing goes... I don;t think they're should be any forcing in a relationship.

I have read about this also.
It usually involves the male half of the couple feeding the female with high calorie foods so that weight piles on. The male keeps this up until the woman is obese and totaly undesirable to all other men!
Is relationship counseling expensive?
