  • Probably a faulty memory card. It's happened to me before. I got pretty angry about it. So I formatted my memory card. By deleting everything of it. Then played the games again and saved them back on there. You can give that a shot, I know you'll hate to start again after making a close to finish progress. But hey, sometimes it's fun to play games again. But yeah if it happens again, it's most likely the memory care is faulty
  • There's multiple things you could try: 1. Get a SONY memory card (they work the best and last the longest- tried and true) I'll personally attest to the fact that they outperform many (if not most or all) of the other 3rd party brands out there. 2. Get a 2nd memory card (doesn't have to be Sony, you could borrow it from a friend as long as it works) and save your games on that one as a backup- probably the best idea since you're trying to figure out the status of your memory card. 3. Take the card out, reinsert it, check to see if there's anything on it, rinse and repeat. It's not that difficult, just time consuming. Sometimes, the PS2 just doesn't detect the data on a memory card if it's starting to go. Of course, this'll only work if the game was actually saved on the card for sure (probably was in your case). I've known people who've had to do the remove-and-reinsert 100s of times before they got anything. This may be worth a try if you really care about your data.
