The retina makes images just like a camera roll and the brain fuses the images to see a continuos picture. If images on the screen movetoo quickly, the retina cannot produce each change of image. It is as if some of the photos in between are blank. The fusion of the images into a continuios film is then distorted and your eyes hurt as you see back and forth and not as a continuos lines. Remember the brain also has to fuse images from two rolls ie both eyes and overlap them
