Turn on your computer and start the Photoshop CS3 software. Open a file you want to work on in Photoshop CS3. Choose "Layer" and "New Layer" from the Menu bar and pull-down menu.
Click on the "Brush Tool" icon located in the "Toolbox" palette. Click on the "Brush Preset" icon located on the horizontal options bar. The "Brush Preset Picker" selection window opens. Click on the right-hand arrow. The "Add Brush" menu opens. Scan the selections and select "Special Effects Brushes." Choose "Append" and "OK" to add your new brushes to your current set.
Choose "Window" and "Brushes" from the Menu bar and pull-down menu. The "Brushes" palette opens. Choose a preset brush. Alter your brush preset by clicking on the option boxes in the palette. Click on the arrow at the top of the palette and select "New Brush Preset" from the pull-down menu. Type "New Test Brush" in the text box. Click "OK." You have a new saved brush available to load when you need it.
