  • It is possible, but not very likely, unless she was recently pregnant and nursing. It's much easier to maintain lactation once it's started by the usual hormonal route than to start it artificially. On the other hand, certain medications can have spontaneous lactation as side effects. Also, certain hormonal conditions are associated with lactation outside of pregnancy. Also, it can be normal to get a small amount of discharge from the nipple at any time. This isn't lactation. Any woman that discharges any significant quantity of anything (including milk) from her nipple when not breast feeding needs to be examined by a doctor.
  • With the right amount of stimulation it is possible to start lactation even if the women has never been pregnant or had a baby. As previously mentioned there are medications that will increase the hormone levels enough to 'bring the milk in" but these arnt necessasary unless your girlfriend is actually going to be breastfeeding a baby. Regular stimulation (breast pump or sucking) every 3-4hrs will trigger things off but she would need to keep this up for quite a while, eg. 2 weeks or so and then maintain stimulation to keep the lactation going. Every woman is different so good luck with that, it will certainly take some commitment. -wench
  • It can often be accomplished with the right physical stimulation. (Breast pump 6 times per day). It can also be done with the right hormones available medically.
