    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

William Howard Taft (1857-1930) is the only person to have served the United States as both president and Supreme Court chief justice. Taft, the 27th president, was elected to a single term in 1908. In 1921, Warren Harding appointed Taft to the post of Supreme Court chief justice.
