I was brought up RC and have seen the truth. I no longer am. You absolutly have to be kidding me. If you want to consult the church to convert. How brain washed are you. Do it. Have you ever heard of Martin Luther. Did he ask any one?
-
Kind of....You can always just convert from the Catholic Church (stop going there and go somewhere else). They can't force you to continue practicing your faith as a Catholic. However, unless you officially leave the Church (and I'm not sure how to do this, but I could look into it) you would still be considered a Catholic by the Church, just a non-practicing one. Make sense?

NO, there is nothing to say you cannot practise another religion if you so wish. There is no brainwashing in the church they accept all and reject none .They will give sanctuary to people of any faith that need it, The Catholic Church does not discriminate If you no longer wish to be a practising Roman Catholic that is your descision and nothing to do with the clergy or the church

The question really doesn't quite make sense to me: if someone no longer trusts the Catholic church to provide their spiritual guidance -- i.e. they want to convert to another faith, why would they consult the church for permission? It's just too strange.

oops - should have been a comment. Please rate this down appropriately.

No one has to get permission from anyone to convert to another faith. If you no longer believe what is taught, then it is meaningless to stay there. However, you might like to discuss it with your priest and tell him your reasons. It could be that you have misunderstood some of the church's teachings. I am not saying this out of any bias. I am not RC.

just do it, just convert to whatever you want and dont think about it
-
No you do not have to get 'permission'. If you wish to convert to another faith you just do it. It is the faith in which you are converting into that you need to speak with and get permission, or admission, or whatever it is they do to welcome you into their faith.
-
Absolutely not, you are free in your own persons, this isn't the dark ages anymore, unless you live in the M.E.
-
Your question is nonsensical. If you are a Roman Catholic to begin with, then you understand that oustside the RC, there is no salvation. Asking your priest for permission to leave the RC is like asking him to give you permission to go to eternal damnation. YOU WILL NEVER RECEIVE THIS PERMISSION. Further, if you have submitted to RC discipline so much that you feel you need permission, then why are you leaving the RC??? I agree you need to talk to your priest to help you with any doubts you may have... but don't ask him for permission to leave the mother church, since it is something he cannot give you under any circumstances.
-
No. It wouldn't make any sense. It would be something like asking your girlfriend permission to dump her so you can find another girlfriend....not a smart idea.
-
No. Just as Jesus let people leave Him in John 6, He honors the free will He gave people and they are free to leave His Church if they will to. Of course, every choice has consequences. People are free to choose this or that, but they are generally not free to choose the consequences of those decisions.
