Help answer this question below.

Since the 'asker' is posing the question wouldn't it be better if he/she had more "Sage-like" status regarding awarding points to the questions they themselves have posted, since they are the ones seeking the answer in the 1st place?

No. The length of time a person has been on answerbag does not make their contribution less or more useful. What if a doctor joined today, and answered all the medical questions with accurate and helpful answers - would you discount that as they were on a lower AB level? The quality of help attainable here on AB is independent to the level of the answerer.

- I asked the question exceedingly poorly, I apologize. My intention was to point out that the person seeking an answer should be better suited to rate whether an answer was truly helpful to them in regards to their question more so than the person with the fastest internet access or the most time on their hands. Does that make a little more sense than the tired drunken rambling I first posted but can no longer edit?

- I see what you mean now, I think, are you saying once you have asked a question you should have more power over what was helpful to you than others who answer and read the answers? If so, that makes a lot of sense! :) I agree

- Ya know Cowboy when I posted this(well I was drunk, but that not withstanding) I confused SO many people with it that the damn thing had ME confused into thinking I had worded it ENTIRELY wrong!
  But now looking back, and with you seeming to understand my point, it DOES seem to make more sense to me than anyone else seemed to get out of it!

- I agree now from a more sober and rested perspective it made little sense the way I worded it. My intention was to indicate that If a person seriously needs an answer enough to ask a question then why not have the asker able to award more points to the answerer than someone who just happened upon it and wanted to put their 2 cents in. Does that make more sense?

You can go back through questions you asked at lower levels and add extra points to the answers on your questions when you level up and have more points to give out. I do it all the time ;)

I think not. You mean rating their own questions? That would be pretentious don't you think?
No offense to anyone in particular: Sages and Maestros get enough accolades as it is now.

- NO NO not rate their own question! Rating the answer THEY recieved with more points than they can just dish out in a drive-by rating of someone elses question. can you suggest a rewording?

- LOL. Actually the higher the ranking the more points you can give as you probably know. Up to 6 points per answer. (I think that's the maximum at the moment) That's a pretty good ammount. When they feel it's a great answer, a congratulatory comment is almost mandatory. I know I give them at least :)

- Yeah on my third or fourth read I realized it should have "... more "sage-like" status awarding points to answers they recieved to questions they posed. But at that point I couldn't edit my question. I hope now my original point was clearer bout some drive-bys being able to award more or take away more than the person that the question should matter to most. Sorry I kinda run-on, and I'm really a LOUSY typist considering how much I do.

- I sense where you're going. Maybe there should be a "freeze button" on some "Universally acclaimed" answers to prevent trolls or other people downrate them for no apparent reason. One can always dream:)

We all started from the beginning in the same way - You can go to answerbag ratings and that will show you where you stand in your rank

Currently, the highest rated answer is listed (& read) 1st, propagating points. In long threads, many later posts never even get read. Wouldn't it make more sense to reverse the order, allowing for a truer evaluation of ALL the answers to the question?
