During Ovulation. This is highly variable, thus the reason for the ovulation tests available at most pharmacies. In a 28 day cycle (the average length)ovulation typically occurs between day 13 and 17 from the onset of menstration. I repeat however that this is highly variable between women as well as from month to month in the same woman depending on the circumstances. Certain events have been demonstrated to cause an egg to be released early. It is also important to remember that sperm cells usually survive for about three days inside a woman's reproductive system. There have been documented cases of sperm lasting up to 11 days, however.
