  • Terrifying. And I only went on a "field trip" of sorts, with my criminal justice class. I can honestly say, that I will try my hardest to never commit a crime that would place me in jail. As a jail is a maximum security prison, it houses offenders on charges from possesion to murder. Your new "roomate" may have just murdered his wife. It's a scary realization. On my field trip I saw some infamous murderer's. It's not a place in which you would want to be for more than an hour.
  • yes. it was ... weird. i was on the visiting side though. so, that was the good part about that.
  • Many times....it's a great opener for a pastor's wife at parties...but I only went as an entertainer/evangelist, and visitor. Nevertheless, it is very harrowing when you are frisked and the gate locks behind you. Even for the short time you are there, and interacting with the inmates, you get a sense of the hopelessness that brought many of them in there, and the lack of direction on the outside that will bring many of them back. No matter whether it has been newly painted and they have colour TV, it is still jail, and it is still inhuman and institutional.
