I just planted new grass seeds in my already existing lawn. Which type of fertilizer (brand and product/composition) will best control weeds and allow the new seedlings to sprout?

    You probably do not have to anything different from your normal fertilization practices if your lawn is relatively strong now. Very basically, for establishment of turf you would want to pick a fertilizer with a higher second number - phosphorus. When you first establish a seeded lawn you have to accept that you will have some weeds. Regular mowing will help give the lawn a competitive edge over many weeds. Once established you can use post- and pre-emergent herbicides to address weeds.
