You were going 20mph over the posted limit. You got caught. Suck it up and deal with it. Next time, don't drive so fast.

If you had been in the state of Tennessee, you would have received a citation for reckless driving, not careless driving. going 10 mph over the posted speed limit, is reckless driving in Tennessee. You were fortunate to have received only a careless driving citation. You apparently were guilty of the speeding citation. Either go to defensive driving class or pay the fine. Next time, use the cruise control on your vehicle. It does not cost anything, not like the citation.

Is there a way to fight it? Yes. Is there a way to win that fight? No! That is nearly double the posted limit. In some places, that won't get you a ticket; that'll get you arrested! Shut up, pay up, and learn some responsibility!

Of course not, your driving was selfish and reckless, if I were the judge you appealed to I would increase the fine. Speed limits are not there to ruin your fun, they are there to protect people from dying.
