  • A bit of both really. It irritates me, I'm not exactly sure why, but it just does; probably because I've had it nailed into me since primary school to always write words properly. To me it always looks lazy, but sometimes it comes across as uneducated or childish as well.
  • Both! It doesn't take too much effort for people to write or type a few extra letters. (Or does it?!) LOL! And don't get me started on people getting 'YOUR' and ' YOU'RE ' confused! LOL! ROFL! ;-)
  • If they are texting, I think it's just a time-saving tactic (for "u" and "ur") but I always cringe when I see "your" for "you're". It is a grammar pet peeve of mine.
  • i dont think its undeducated; everyone knows that you dont spell 'you' like 'u'. probably just laziness! though if its by text, i understand, because there's a maximum amount of letters, so you need to make it as short as possible. but what reallyyyy annoys me is when people do things like 'yew' or 'yoo' instead of 'you' haha.. x x
  • It's pure laziness and could indicate a low level education. Any question can be phrased correctly to fit the space required here, but you have to have a vocabulary to pick the right words. And the omission of a couple letters here and there doesn't save any time. It's just my opinion, but I don't think the shorthand style looks hip or cool, but rather low class. Respect the language enough to use it properly.
  • it depends on who it is coming from. some people actually don't know how to spell these things, sadly.
  • It drives me NUCKING FUTZ! To put it bluntly and in words that won't be mistaken or rejected! It's lazy, and makes the writer appear to be flaky, ignorant, and of a low life and low self esteem.... But, then, I write and sometimes get paid to do so...as said...If it's worth doing at all, it's worth doing RIGHT.
  • I just figure they do a lot of texting.
  • Its a little of both. typing emails on the newer phones can make it hair raising trying to type on them.
  • No, it doesn't bother me at all. If I can't easily understand a question and have to mentally translate it I just ignore it, as do many others, I'm sure. People who pose questions in that way are doing themselves a disservice because they are limiting the number of people who will give them an answer.
  • Yeah. A little. But it's a lot less common here than on a lot of other forums.
  • It does bug me a bit. I don't mind it, but I would prefer if they could type the whole thing out.
