I am guessing borked means it is broke. Do I need a whole new ignition, or is the switch just part of it?

Your ignition switch is borked. Time to get a professional in to do some work on that steering column... unless you are a masochist and want to attempt to do it yourself. While DIY is technically possible, I recommend paying someone else to deal with the aggravation.

BTW - the igniter was not a waste. Older Hondas eat those things anyways so you just did a pre-emptive repair.
