<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Enviromental Protection
Wind turbines offer a renewable source of energy that does not generate the pollutants released by burning fossil fuels. Wind turbines are also space efficient, meaning they take up a small area on the ground which lets people use the land for other purposes, such as farming.
On the Other: Unreliable Power Source
Wind turbines can only generate power when the wind is blowing, something people have no control over, whereas you can burn fossil fuels at any time and be able to generate power. In addition, many wind turbines must be built to generate as much energy as a fossil fuel plant.
Bottom Line
Wind turbines may be part of the solution to the energy problem, but not an exclusive solution. Wind turbines can contribute to reducing the dependence on fossil fuels and reducing greenhouse gases, but other power sources will also need to be used.
