uTorrent is a BitTorrent client, meaning a mini program that mirrors the BitTorrent service protocol, one of the most popular ways to download media from the Internet. To download files from your uTorrent search to an iPod, decide whether you want to play files you downloaded from uTorrent to your iPod or whether you want to use your iPod as a storage device and save files to the memory. In either case, use iTunes, the program specifically designed by Apple Inc. to traffic files to iPod, to move files from uTorrent to your iPod.

Playback Files Downloaded From uTorrent

Locate the folder to which uTorrent downloads files on your computer. It will be easier to import files into iTunes, and thus your iPod, if you have a central folder location in which these files are stored. Connect your iPod to your computer and open iTunes. Click "File" and select "Add Folder to Library." A browser window will open in which you can select the file where your uTorrent files are stored. iTunes will automatically convert any compatible music or video file into your iTunes library---incompatible files will not be converted and will remain in the file. Once your files have been added to your library, copy the files to your iPod. If you still wish to move nonplayable files to your iPod, you can use your iPod for fire storage by enabling "Disk Mode" on your iPod (see next section).

Use Disk Mode on iPod for File Storage

The newest generation iPods have a prodigious amount of memory and are good for storing files, not just playing media. To use your iPod as a storage disk for files you download in uTorrent, you must make sure that your iPod is set to "Disk Mode." Connect your iPod to your computer and open iTunes. In the source panel (the menu on the left side of the iTunes screen), select your iPod in the "Devices" section, and in the main window, select "Manually manage music and videos." When this is complete, you can take advantage of your iPod's memory just as you would a secure disk (SD) memory disk, flash drive or external hard drive. You can gain access to the iPod drive in "My Computer" in Windows.
