  • On your laptop are u using the wireless G's software or windows to connect. They could be interfering with each other. AND BTW you should give a few more details. and not call you wireless adapter a router.

  • Your router may not be broadcasting it's ID which is a good security feature to turn on once everything is set up. It could also have a MAC address table on it, only allowing certain MAC addresses to connect to it. There also may be a hardware switch on the laptop that turns the antenna off and on. Good luck.
  • what type of router is it? does your wifi connection on your laptop support the G-band? if not, trying switching it to A/B and see if it works. tell me how it goes :-) check in your system manager to make sure you have all the correct drivers (start+pause/break)
  • ....are you near any Wi-Fi areas? Dumb, i know, but you never can tell how experienced people are in this area.
