If Crator Lake is supposed to be the result of a crator, why does it have an island in it?

It's a volcanic crater. The volcano collapsed after an eruption, and since volcanic activity continued for years after the crater was formed, large cones were built up in the middle. Because even though a crater formed, the continental plates beneath the Earth's crust are still moving and if they collide they could form a mountain, hill, or even an island!
