<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Thermage Works for Thighs
Thermage uses radio frequency to heat the layers of the skin in order to tighten and produce collagen, the substance that gives skin its firm texture. This procedure is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of wrinkles and cellulite. It also helps skin that is sagging or bulging. Over time, tighter skin will replace your saggy skin.
On the Other: It is Expensive
As of 2009, the cost for a facial procedure ranges from $1,000 to $5,000. The thighs are a much larger area and take more time, and thus cost for Thermage treatment will range higher than procedures for the face.
Bottom Line
If you can afford it, Thermage may be the right choice for you. Side effects such as redness, swelling and blisters are rare and usually dissipate in a few days, if you get them at all. Results vary. You may see gradual results as new collagen forms, according to Dr. Roy G. Geronemus, Clinical Professor of Dermatology, New York University.
