According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, a clinical study of migraines in Great Britain showed that over 70 percent of the participants experienced pain relief by using feverfew. Other studies have shown that feverfew is effective for migraine pain relief when paired with treatments such as magnesium or white willow.

On the Other: Feverfew Isn't for Everyone

Children under two years old should not use feverfew. Anyone who is allergic to ragweed, chamomile, or yarrow may also be allergic to feverfew. Pregnant or nursing women should avoid feverfew, as should anyone who has a bleeding disorder or takes blood thinning medication.

    Bottom Line

Feverfew does work for many migraine sufferers, but not all experience pain relief. If you are not among the groups that absolutely must not take feverfew, it may be worth a try. Discuss feverfew use with your doctor before taking it to ensure that it is safe for your specific medical condition and history.
