Prenatal vitamins provide many benefits to men because of the vitamin power they supply. They are high in folic acid, of which many men have are deficient. They are also high in vitamin D, which can decrease a man's risk of heart disease.

On the Other: Vitamins Pose Toxicity Risks

Although prenatal vitamins can supply an array of beneficial vitamins for a man, they also contains high levels of iron, which can be harmful. Men generally get enough iron through diet, and an excess (which can easily be obtained through prenatal vitamins) can cause fatigue, stomach pain, constipation and nausea. Severe iron toxicity can lead to heart, liver and endocrine-gland damage. High amounts of vitamin A can lead to liver damage.

    Bottom Line

One or two prenatal vitamins won't hurt, but regular consumption can damage vital organs in men. Instead consider multivitamins that contain beneficial vitamins and minerals but are low in iron and vitamin A.
