    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. generated a gross $2.7 trillion in federal taxes for 2008. This works out to just more than $7.3 million a day. Subtracting the $428 billion in refunds leaves $2.3 trillion or a net daily tax of $6.3 million.
