  • Julian McMahon in NipTuck is Australian, not American. There are a few other Australia actors using US accents to work with as well.
  • The guy who is House, Mr Craig character on GH, and the Zoe character on AMC There are lots of them.

  • The guy who plays Daphne's brother on "Frasier" its supposed to be a Manchester accent, but its terrible and it sound cockney.... the two accents are utterly different. Also the guy who played Daphne's ex-boyfriend in "Frasier" excruciating to the ears. I think they both went to the "Dick Van Dyke School of Unconvincing Accents"
  • Half the brits on Buffy (Drucilla and many of the other vamps). Deanna Troy on ST:TNG was a brit doing a neutral, non-accent. The butler on the Nanny is actually not British but does a wonderful Brit accent.
  • The Doctor (David Tennant) in the current Doctor Who series. In real life he speaks with a strong Scottish accent, but his accent on that particular show is English
  • Minnie Driver and Eddie Izzard. They both have British accents, and for the Fox show "The Riches" Minnie sounds kinda southern and Eddie just sounds like a regualar American guy. However, on last night's episode they brought back their original accents to pretend to be two attorneys. I guess British attorneys sound more intelligent.
  • hugh laurie (greg house) on house eddie izzard and minnie driver on the riches
  • The guy that plays House is a Brit.
  • There are many ways to approach a role that requires an accent. Some actors study with a dialect coach. When I appeared in "Three Years Probation," I took it upon myself to master the character's Norwegian accent without a coach. My growing up in Texas made it challenging. Additionally, my character was a functioning alcoholic and nine months pregnant! The process was difficult and rewarding—a process that I bring to the actors in my workshop. • Melanie Lynskey, Rose on Two & a Half Men, and also now in the film The Informant, is a Down Underer (New Zealand I think?)--& you'd never know. The guy who plays the brother on New Adventures of Old Christine, Hamish Linklater I think, is a Scot, and his American accent is flawless.
