According to the Service Department of Koeppel Volkswagen in Woodside, New York, use 75W-90 synthetic oil. Change the oil after 80,000 miles.
Considerations
Transmission oil is different then motor oil. Motor oil should be changed every 3,000 miles. The new Beetle requires 5W30 synthetic motor oil.
Brands of Suitable Oil
Recommended oil includes VW/AUDI OEM Gear Oil (G70), Red Line MT-90 75W90 and Mobil 1 75W90.
