  • The National Institute of Medicine says that women should drink about 2.2 liters, or 9 cups, of water everyday. Men should take in about 3 liters, or 13 cups of water. If more than 4 liters of water are taken in by either a man or a woman, excessive urination and stomach cramps may occur.
